Eco Warriors' visit to Black Rock
On February 10th and 11th a Community Consultation was held at our School to find out what ideas we have to improve our local Black Rock Area. Mark Langley showed Eco Warriors a map of Black Rock and invited us to use flags to indicate where there were problem areas (traffic, crime or littering) or where there could be environmental improvement. That weekend local people visited and also gave their ideas about how to improve Black Rock.
We enjoyed thinking about Black Rock and how it can be improved and look forward to working with Mark this year to make environmental changes so that Black Rock will be an even more beautiful and safer place to visit.

Green Day - Friday 15th July
The whole school took part in Green Day, with all children taking part in some sort of outdoor activity. Some classes had lessons outside, while others worked hard to tidy up the school grounds and ponds. The grounds are looking lovely and thanks to receiving some Natural Buzz vouchers from Keep Wales Tidy we now have some lovely areas planted to attract butterflies to our school.
Fantastic News!
This week we were so excited to find out that all of our hard work has paid off - we have been awarded our Platinum Award.
Watch this space for more news about how we are going to celebrate and some photos.
New Eco Code
Our new Eco Code Poster has been designed by Sara (Y5).
Eat Fruit Daily Competition
Year 2 were the winners of our competition last term. They will be making fruit smoothies later on in the week as their prize. Yum, yum! Watch this space for photos very soon.
Saving electricity
Our new initiative is to save electricity used in our school by monitoring lights that are left on in unoccupied rooms. Each week we will tour the school and give out red light bulbs if a light is found left on in an unoccupied room and gold light bulbs if lights are off. During our first tour we were really pleased to only have to give out 3 red light bulbs. We were even more pleased to find a few teachers working in their classrooms without the lights on, well done Miss Stephens (Y4), Mrs Smith (Y1) and Mrs McCormack (Y6)!! We will keep you informed of our results.
