  • Storm Eunice- School building closed and blended learning implemented

    Thu 17 Feb 2022 C Swann

    Dear Parent/Carer,

We have in the last few minutes received an email from the Local Authority ‘strongly recommending’ that we close school and move to blended learning tomorrow due to the threat posed by Storm Eunice.

The Met Office has upgraded the Storm Eunice Weather Warning for tomorrow (Friday 18th February) to RED. This is due to the significant disruption and dangerous conditions predicted due to extremely strong winds resulting in the following:

    • Flying debris resulting in danger to life
    • Damage to buildings and homes, with roofs blown off and power lines brought down
    • Uprooted trees are likely
    • Roads, bridges and railway lines closed, with delays and cancellations to bus, train, ferry services and flights
    • Power cuts affecting other services, such as mobile phone coverage
    • Large waves and beach material being thrown onto coastal roads, sea fronts and homes, including flooding of some coastal properties

Given this position, and in an unprecedented move, the Council is strongly recommending that all schools not already due to be closed for INSET purposes, make plans to move to blended learning arrangements for tomorrow.

I have confirmed this with our Chair of Governors and we will follow the recommendation of the Local Authority.

Apologies for any inconvenience this short notice may cause families but we feel it pertinent to follow local authority advice.

All teachers will set work for children on Google classroom by 9:30am tomorrow morning.  There will be no ‘live lessons’ but teachers will be available for communication via Goggle classroom for the day until 3:30pm to answer any queries or respond to work posted. Please continue to use the school office for communication after this day.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you all after half term.

    17.12.2021

    Dear Families,

In line with the Monmouthshire expectation, the January training day will be postponed until later in the year so that we can welcome our children back as soon as possible.

There still remain the 2 planning days on the 4th and 5th January 2022, where staff will be working to revise, adapt and amend procedures to ensure safety for everyone.

May I thank you for your patience and understanding in this ever-changing situation, and wish you all a very safe and happy Christmas and New Year,

    Very kind regards,

  • OPEN EVENING - CALDICOT SCHOOL

    Thu 16 Sep 2021 JAE

    15th September 2021
    Dear Parent(s)/Carer(s),
Re: Application for Year 7 place in September 2022
The decision you take on which secondary school to send your child is one of the most challenging as a parent.
You have to consider whether your child will excel academically, flourish socially and ultimately be happy. I
should like you to give consideration to Caldicot School as your preferred choice. I believe you should strongly
consider us as your preferred school because
 The school consistently achieves very high outcomes, with nearly all groups of students meeting or
exceeding expectations. Last year, outcomes achieved in centre determined grades were exceptional and
    has helped to enable each child to progress to the next stage in their lives;
 On the whole, we have wonderful students who are eager to learn and are well mannered. They want to
    achieve well at school and this is reflected by their approach to learning;
 We have a highly talented group of staff, committed to providing an outstanding experience to all
students. We only appoint the very best teachers at Caldicot and, this September, we have welcomed a
further number of outstanding staff to join us in supporting our students; and
 We are situated in ‘state of the art’ facilities, with all classrooms equipped with the highest specification.
We have in excess of 1000 mobile devices for students so that learning can be ‘cutting edge’.
We want to be the best school for your child! This means that each student, at the end of their time at Caldicot,
could not have had a better educational experience at any other school. We want all of our students to achieve
their full potential in terms of examination results; to gain life-long skills which will enable them to be successful
in the world beyond school; and to develop a sense of morality, rooted in our core values.
On Thursday 30th September 2021 we will hold an Open Evening where you and your child will have
the opportunity to take a tour of the school, followed by a short presentation by me at 5.30pm, which is
repeated at 7.00pm. We anticipate this being a busy event and, in light of the health crisis, unless you have
an exemption, we ask that you wear a face-covering. Furthermore, where possible we will try to support
social distancing by placing capacity limits on rooms. So that we can offer a ‘real’ experience, we ask that you
support us by observing these safety measures.
Please take a look at our new website and school prospectus. I hope it gives a flavour of the great things which
happen at Caldicot School and encourages you to apply.
I look forward to meeting you at our Open Evening.
    Yours sincerely,
    Marc Belli

  • Training Days for July and September 2021

    Mon 21 Jun 2021 C Swann

    21st June 2021

    Dear Families,
The summer is here, though it doesn’t feel like it at today, and the end of term will soon be upon us. We now have 3 staff training days at the end of term, which are the 16th, 19th and 20th July 2021.

This means that the last day of school for the children is Thursday 15th July 2021.

    September 2021:

Apart from the new reception cohort who will have a staggered start, we will return to school after the summer holidays on the 6th September 2021, with the 2nd and 3rd being staff training days. There will be 4 further training days before July 2022, which will be confirmed as soon as we are able to.

Please can we take this opportunity to wish you a safe and fabulous summer,

    Kind Regards

  • Red Nose Day

    Fri 12 Mar 2021 C Swann

We are excited to say that children and adults can feel free to dress up for Red Nose Day on the 19th March 2021. We are having the theme of Superheroes. Superheroes are very different to each and every one of us… a person may feel, that for them, it’s a nurse, their Dad, Batman or a person from history etc. It is personal choice, and children may want to come as themselves, as they are Superheroes to both you and us, and therefore would also be a perfect response to Red Nose Day.

Any donations will be collected through Parent Pay, and we will send further details shortly.
