Technotastic Homework Easter holiday

Easter homework based on our topic Technotastic went home today (29th March) with your children as well as 2 sets of spellings. There will be a spelling test on Monday 16th April (first day back) on the first section, and a second test later on that week on Friday 20th.

A couple of children tried to sneak the work back into their trays so I have attached a copy of the topic homework just in case. We went through the homework expectations together and looked at examples, sharing loads of ideas. This needs to be back on Monday 16th April.

I'd like to share some of the wonderful events your children have been involved in over the course of the Spring term.

In December we had a visit from the Youth Sport Trust as part of a Welsh Government initiative. They are promoting health and well-being, and exercise skills with Year Five classes in every school. My class had a whole day visit with Nathan and Elliott who showed us lots of games, activities and skills. The class were then challenged to develop and plan their own games for younger audiences. We used this as an opportunity to plan three daily activities for Reception to Year Four classes, as well as giving my class the responsibility to manage resources and work with the younger children across our school.

Taking this to another level, the class used many numeracy and IT skills to cost up equipment, find items which were the best value for money and work within a budget. We now have costings for every piece of equipment needed across all 5 groups.

The groups are really enjoying the organisation of Playmakers. This has been such a hit with the younger children too, some of whom want to join in with the games designed for other year groups.

News Flash

Due to our hard work our Year Fives have been selected as the best example of this trial and we are going to be filmed and interviewed on Thursday 19th April.

We have had some really exciting science experiments where we were investigating what would happen if we mixed solids (mints) and liquids (cola) to produce a gas. We also mixed vinegar with bicarbonate of soda and managed to blow up several balloons. The resulting gas produced was not very pleasant. We hope you enjoy some of the videos we took.
